Creativity to be Consistent, Performativity to be Never

The fundamental intent of education and motivation in the classroom is the nurture creative thinking among students using acquired knowledge. The present dynamic society is presenting individuals with an array of challenges that demands innovation. For individuals to thrive in today’s digital era, one will have to attain fundamental skills set that include innovation, creative thinking, profound problem-solving and the ability to manage choice, uncertainty and the unknown.

While we are responsible of education children and equip them with the ability to innovate in order to help advance economic growth and development. However, unfortunately at present, students are merely being viewed as future social capital who are expected to have the capacity to work and be economically productive.

Creativity should be included in classrooms, granting students with the opportunity to learn effectively. Classroom should serve as the root of creativity, a place where students can easily manifest. Without the promotion of creativity, individuals will stay un-innovative and lack the ability to look at issues from different perspectives and come up with solutions from outside the box. On the contrary, creative mindset counteracts this restricted thinking as it allows students be original and inspired by looking at the issue from varying perspectives. Conclusively, neglecting creativity dangerously places children at the risk of marginalisation.

Creativity allows students to learn that there are no wrong answers in creativity; thereby, allowing students’ participant to thrive extensively. A creative classroom actively encourages and values all inputs and ideas. It consists of various factors belonging to the hidden curriculum and they include a specific learning which stimulates self-initiated behaviour among students, allowing them to have a sense of independence and builds their self-esteem. Teachers have a complex and substantial influence within their environment. As such, they should make use of this advantage to cultivate self-esteem among students to their benefit.

Education is thought to be designed with the best interests of our economy. However, the absence of creativity in schools failed to meet the current demand for creative and innovative individuals. Creativity is essential for future success, yet education and many of the teaching professionals ignore the urgency for creativity.

In today’s dynamic world, besides holding a degree, an individual is required to possess specific qualities which include creativity as it allows individuals to become aware of their knowings to progress and succeed. However, now, education still lacks change and has proven to be behind time. Students have been witnessed to be leaving education ill-equipped and unprepared for the distant future.
