HUFS Global Volunteers carried out their 2017 summer volunteer program from August 5 to 13, 2017 in the Binh Long District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This is their second consecutive year lending a helping hand in the Vietnamese city.
For this year’s summer program, 20 HUFS Global Campus students were selected and trained to prepare for their roles. After the two-month training, they were sent to the Binh Long District to teach some 120 elementary students. They gave lessons to the local students in Korean language, arts, science, music, and physical education over nine days.
Their volunteering visit this year was notable in that it was made at the request of an elementary school in the district. Deeply impressed by the efforts put forth by the HUFS volunteers last year, the school asked them to carry out the volunteer program again for its students. During their second visit, the HUFS volunteers provided the young students with both learning and cultural activities, while HUFS provided the school with financial support to help it improve its facilities. This also drew much attention from local media outlets.
