Qatar University Ranked No 393 in the QS World University Rankings

In the presence of H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani the Vice Chairman of Qatar University’s Board of Regents, Qatar University announced yesterday that the institution has been ranked No 393 in the QS World University Rankings.

Commenting on the announcement, QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham said: “We are so happy to achieve this important success which reflects QU’s noticeable improvement that resulted from years of hard work and commitment”.

“Ranking is not a figure. Rather, it is an indication of QU’s improvement and advancement in academic excellence, research endeavors, international reputation, and local and international solid partnerships. The ranking also highlights the local reputation QU has built in the local labor market and the local society as a whole” he added.

Dr Al Derham concluded his speech saying: “QU has achieved many successes in Arabic and International rankings which reflect continuous efforts among more than a decade. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all who took part in this achievement that adds a value to QU and Qatar. This is only the beginning and we are keen to record further success in ranking as part of our role to develop a knowledge-based economy”.

Commenting on this, Ashwin Fernandes, QS Regional Director said: “It is a pleasure to be here in Qatar to announce that Qatar University has soared into the global top 400 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2016/2017. This means that Qatar University can really compete with many international universities. In the 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings, we have ranked 916 universities, after considering over 3800 of them. Qatar University is among the top 400 which reflects the great work and effort put by its administration. From last year to now, Qatar University jumped 88 places which makes it one of the fastest rising universities in the region. Qatar University gains a wealth of academic, research and institutional accomplishments that have served to be positioned as an effective partner in the Qatari society and one of the leading universities in the region. The real work for the University has just started and it’s to maintain its position among the top 400 universities in the world. QU is also ranked among the top 10 globally for international faculty and 21 globally for international students which are considered as great achievements for the University this year”.
