Atma Jaya Faculty of Engineering, along with fourteen other national and private universities, has signed a collaboration document about the initiation ICT Academy and Huawei AI Talent Development Program. The agreement has been signed by Dean Faculty of Engineering, Ronald Sukwadi, PhD., and HUAWEI Service Delivery Director, Mr. Zhang Yijunon.
This collaboration aims to improve the quality of services for lectures, strengthen students’ and lecturers’ research activities, contribute more to the community, and develop AI talents and build AI-based ecosystems in Indonesia. Dr. Lukas, MAI., has been appointed as the person in charge of this program.
In this collaboration, Huawei has agreed to arrange a Bootcamp for instructors, AI curriculum development, and incentives for Atma Jaya faculty of engineering lecturers and student research. Huawei will also provide a grant of 2 Atlas AI 200DK – a computer platform from Huawei for AI computing that can help technology developers manage the developing environment and integrate graphical programming environments to bring new levels in an efficient development.
With the Ascend processor full-scenario capability, various programs can be developed on the Atlas 200 DK AI in one go. It is possible to apply in device-edge-cloud scenarios with modifications without using programming code.
From 1994, Atma Jaya Electrical Engineering had already begun its research activities on Artificial Intelligence and has produced many works and scientific publications since then. In 2005, a group of scientists including namely Prof. Adang Suwandi Ahmad (ITB), Prof. Lanny W. Pandjaitan, Dr. Lukas, and Ir. Harlianto Tanudjaja initiated the Cognitive Engineering Research Group/CERG) at the Faculty of Engineering, Atma Jaya.
A student-lecture collaboration innovates an image recognition smart application, smart control system, robotics, natural language processing/NLP. The Engineering Faculty, collaborating with other disciplines, such as the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Medicine, continues to generate the use of Genetic Algorithms, Fuzzy Method, and Support Vector Machine (SVM).
The university is hopeful of significant future discoveries from the Atma Jaya Artificial Intelligence Base (AJAIB) laboratory, BSD Campus.
