BigTech Innovation and TU’s Faculty of Medicine Sign MOU on Cannabis Research

Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University and BigTech Innovation Company, including pharmacist Sakchai Suwannakarn and Mr.Chingchai Konthansakun, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dilok Piyayothai, President of the Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, mutually signed MOU on cannabis research. The purpose is to research on Marijuana and develop it to be used as a medical herb. The faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, is going to be the one who holds a license for possessing cannabis. BigTech Innovation Company will conduct cannabis research and develop cannabis production for medical use.

BigTech Innovation company is the collaboration between Treesci Innovation company, expert in medical technology, and Civic Media Co.,Ltd., expert in LED and Plant factory with artificial lighting. The company grows plants by using AI and PFAl technology to control the environment like temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, and wind power.  It was certified by many organizations on vegetable hygiene. According to the microorganism test result, there is only 260 CFU/g in vegetables from PFAL technology. The standard is 1,000,000 CFU/g. In addition, vegetables from PFAL technology have no contamination and are classified as a medical grade.

Vegetables from PFAL technology are sold in shopping malls like Paragon, Gourmet market zone, G Floor, and in LED FARM shop in Charoen Krung 78. All vegetables in the shop are planted in Plant factory with artificial lighting or PFAL. Both companies agree to be a part of the project on developing medical cannabis. Therefore, they form the BigTech Innovation Company. They made an agreement with Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dilok Piyayothai, the President of the Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, to research cannabis for medical use.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dilok Piyayothai, President of the Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, also says that the cooperation will be about constituting a party working on determining rules and responsibilities to fulfill the objectives and encourage project to be successfully proceeded.
