As the government implements physical distancing in all public space, working space, and even educational space, many professionals are faced with challenges with no precedent, including lecturers.

With the implementation of online learning for all subjects, the lecturer of Communication Study Program Anathasia, S.Sos., M.Si. now faces a new challenge in teaching her students. As she cannot meet her students directly in a classroom setting, she gives her best to find a learning method that will not bore her students and can be easily accessed no matter where her students are.

Currently, the lecturer well known with her nickname Thisi tries her hand at the podcast, an audio broadcast popular among young people as her means of teaching.

Through Spotify, Thisi uploaded podcasts with topics about Communication Study that she named “KEPOT, Kuliah Lewat Podcast”. Right now, the KEPOT series has had 3 podcasts with the theme “PR Process – R A C E”, “PR & Tourism”‘ and “Communication Tools for PR, Marcomm, and Media”.

Aside from podcast, previously Thisi has used her social media account to conduct her class. Through the Instagram Live feature, Thisi invited her colleague Andris Adhitra, a lecturer at Naresuan University International College Thailand to discuss public relations and tourism in a lecture entitled “Public Relations, Media and Destination Image”.

“The enforcement of travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 outbreak has impacted the tourism sector significantly. The fact that the majority of Thailand’s income comes from the tourism sector is also exciting to be discussed through the lens of public relations,” explained Thisi.

Thisi stated that she will continue to update and adjust her teaching material accordingly with the current conditions along with real case study so that the students will be better prepared to face the professional world later on. She will also continuously update her teaching method using the platform that best suits her students such as Instagram and Spotify so that her students can learn happily.
