Prof. Dr Faizah Abd Majid, professor of adult education from the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA, UiTM, Malaysia was the proud recipient of the Distinguished Scientist in Adult Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) Award at the 5th Venus International Research Awards (VIRA) 2019.
The award ceremony was held during the 5th Annual Research Meet (ARM) 2019 in Chennai, India in August and was convened by the Centre for Advanced Research and Design (CARD) of Venus International Foundation. The award was conferred based on her exceptional research track record in the field of adult education and her contributions to the industry. Evaluation criteria also included collaboration with industries, number of research engagements, grants and patents.
The award adds to Prof. Dr Faizah’s many accolades. Besides receiving research grants from both national and international institutions, her contribution includes developing academic and professional development modules and facilitating the professional growth of academicians across the country. In the global scene, Prof. Dr Faizah has been appointed as the international academic program assessor for the National Agency of Academic Accreditation, Ministry of Education Timor-Leste.
As part of her current Southeast Asian Social Innovation Network (SEASIN) project, she is modelling the 21st-century learning and innovation skills in tertiary education. Funded by the European Commission, the SEASIN initiative aims to support and promote social innovations as a mechanism to achieve sustainable and inclusive socio-economic growth, social cohesion, and equity in South East Asia.
