Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia received a group of visitors from RVS College of Engineering & Technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India recently. The 6-day visit from 9th to 14th February 2020, was part of the activities planned by FEE and RVS College under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2019. The sixteen-member team led by Professor Dr. S. S. Sivaraju, comprised of three lecturers and 13 engineering students while FEE was led by Dr. Nurfadzilah Ahmad and Dr. Zulkiffli Abdul Hamid.

The week-long activities began with the opening ceremony by the Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farid Abidin followed by an academic briefing by Head of Department, Assoc. The delegates were brought to UiTM’s Green Energy Research Centre (GERC) and Communication Satellite Centre which are both located in the university campus. These visits further strengthened the relationship between UiTM and RVS College as the delegates were briefed on the aim and activities in the centers. During the visit to the Satellite Centre, the delegates were briefed on the satellite UiTM SAT-1 that UiTM launched recently. The delegates felt that the visits to the two research centers were very beneficial as they gained detailed knowledge on solar panels such as construction methods, type of material used and the type of battery usage.

It was interesting when the RVS College students presented their research project to the FEE lecturers and students. One of the research that attracted the attention of the audience was research on Electric Vehicle (EV). The discussion between the two institutions during the six-day program shows a very promising potential in terms of collaborative research and teaching between UiTM and RVS.
