Oman’s Majan University College’s BA (Hons) English Language student Elina Khasanova recently participated in the 11th International Conference on Middle English which took place at the University of Florence (Italy), between 5-8 February. The conference has a long tradition and it has been held for over twenty years in different parts of Europe. The conference covered different aspects of Middle English language, and Elina’s presentation was entitled ‘A comparative analysis of polysemantic Middle English and Modern English kinship terms’.
Elina says: “It was a priceless experience of communicating with researchers in the field of English language history from all over the world. It also gave me an opportunity to share my academic achievements with a wide audience. I’m very grateful to Majan University College for the support they provided. I would like to thank all the BA English lecturers for encouraging us to carry out research, especially Dr. Larysa Nikolayeva who supported and helped me in this journey.’
