UiTM Faculty of Accountancy Collaborates with UNESA on COVID-19 Research

The Faculty of Accountancy (FAA), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for long-term collaboration initiatives for student staff mobility, joint research, and organization of conferences.

The collaboration was initiated in February this year, and in connection to this FAA, UiTM received two UNESA delegates, Susi Handayani, Deputy Dean, and Dr. Rohmawati Kusumaningtias, on 6 February 2020. Both delegates are Accounting lecturers from the Accountancy Department, Faculty of Economy, UNESA.

Due to the unexpected  Covid-19 pandemic and the border control, most of the initiatives have been postponed to next year However, the first collaborative initiative involving four joint research projects funded by UNESA has started in June 2020.

All four projects center around the consequences of COVID-19 pandemic on accounting, business sustainability, and governance in Indonesia. These short-term projects which are expected to conclude by end of this year involve five members from FAA, UiTM, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azizah Abdullah, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amrizah Kamaluddin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Paino, Dr. Seri Ayu Masuri Md Daud, and Dr. Aida Hazlin Ismail. This marks the beginning of more strategic partnerships and collaborative work between the two institutions.

Plans for further research collaboration funded by UiTM are in the pipeline which will commence in 2021.
