Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis branch and Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) have recently renewed their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding for developing and fostering cooperation between the two universities. The previous MoU was signed three years ago in Pekin Baru, Indonesia.
The signing ceremony was held online via Facebook Live app on 14th July 2020 and was hosted by the Division of Research, Industry, Community, Alumni and Entrepreneurship (RICAEN), UiTM Perlis branch.
UiTM Perlis branch was represented by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Hj Khudzir Bin Hj Ismail, while UIR counterpart was the rector, Prof. Dr. H. Syafrinaldi. The event was witnessed by representatives from both institutions involving UiTM Perlis branch’s management executives, top management of UIR, respected deans, head of faculties, academicians, lecturers, and mass media representatives.
Prof. Dr. Hj Khudzir Bin Hj Ismail in his welcoming speech stated that the e-signing ceremony was aimed to develop and promote international co-operation in various fields especially in education which requires research collaboration. He assured that upon the MoU signing, student/staff exchange, student mobility program, and the need for expertise advocacy involving lecturers, students, and other administrative staff can be made possible.
Prof. Dr. Hj Khudzir Bin Hj Ismail added that the signed MoU not solely a tradition practiced between UiTM Perlis branch and UIR, it is a stepping stone to encourage and enhance collaboration which has been cultivated since the previous MoU.
The co-operation between UiTM Perlis branch and UIR via the MoU, not only helps in producing graduates who are employability, but it also guarantees a strong linkage between academicians and administrative staff from both universities.
It is hoped that UiTM Perlis branch and UIR will participate actively to secure strategic engagement in the future and the signed MoU will achieve its objectives and drives towards a successful implementation to both institutes as well as the countries.
