UiTM’s Faculty of Engineering Establishes a Research Collaboration with Infineon Technologies

Infineon Technologies recently signed a research collaboration agreement (RCA) with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.

Infineon Technologies (M), a semiconductor and system solutions provider, is the largest manufacturing site owned by the headquarters from Germany known for its back-end process. Their second site in Malaysia, which focuses on the front-end process – the wafer manufacturing, is located in Kulim. Infineon’s business segment is the semiconductor industry, which involves both development and production in both sites in Malaysia.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Norlida Buniyamin’s Ph.D. student, Muhamad Syafiq Bin Rosman, who is currently pursuing his Ph.D. and is expected to finish in 2021, is based in Infineon. The primary objective of the RCA is to protect the Intellectual Property (IP) of both parties as well as build an academic-industrial linkage. A part of the RCA agreement is Muhamad Syafiq’s research study, which governs the use of facilities, including technical advice and equipment.

Norlida has actively been involved with industrial research collaboration and has been instrumental in signing a few Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with international universities. She is an active researcher in the area of Automation and Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, and Engineering Education.

Her recent publications include ‘Occupancy grid map algorithm with neural network using array of infrared sensors’ in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series and ‘Current knowledge management activities in a manufacturing company in Malaysia: A case study’ in the Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing book series and her publications can be viewed via ORCID ID 0000-0002-4256-6809.
